The World Halal Forum was held from May 8-10 this year at KL. The World Halal Forum is THE Halal industry event of the year. The keynote speaker was Datuk Seri Hj. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, The Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Chairman of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Conference).
The World Halal Forum Objectives:
- To develop the Global Halal Market
- To understand and solve challenges faced by the Halal industry
- Address the need for industry standards for Halal on a global scale
- Create a networking event to facilitate trade between the different players in the Global Halal Market
Not interested? Neither am I. Heh. The only reason why I even know about this is because my dad WAS A SPEAKER AT THE CONFERENCE. He proudly proclaimed, "Visit www.halaljournal.com and click on Halal Forum - Photo Gallery - you can see daddy's photos.... with the Prime Minister of Malaysia". Now now, when did my dad become knowledgeable about Halal laws and regulations? Pretty amusing but impressive nonetheless. I can't find photos of my dad with the Prime Minister because the photos in the gallery are mini sized and the one I suspect is of my dad shaking hands with the Datuk cannot be enlarged (error message). BUT, I found kick ass huge photos of my dad alone. Row 7 and row 10 (Emm... my dad is chinese and has hair). I am impressed only because I freaking dislike [hate. my mum dislike me for using the word hate] public speaking and would probably shit in my pants if I had to address more than 25 people. So there.
